Samantha Ragland is the Vice President of Journalism Programs at the American Press Institute, where she champions cultural transformation and business sustainability in local media through API Local News Summits, the API Inclusion Index, experiment funds, private training and more. An award-winning former news editor and most recently a former leadership faculty member at The Poynter Institute, she has created, facilitated and taught initiatives empowering women in media, early career journalists and global news leaders. With a master's in journalism from Syracuse University and a creative writing background, Samantha's mission is clear: to ensure her future children have local news with integrity.
